Attaching an element to a data field

Once a data source has been defined any suitable element on a label can have its data source directed to a field in the data source.

Start the Designer window (by selecting Designer from the Edit menu) and select an element by clicking on it. Then right click on the element and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. The appropriate Properties dialog is displayed.

In the Source area of the dialog push the Field radiobutton, then drop down the list of fields provided by the database source.

Select the required field, then push the OK button.

The dialog closes and the Designer window displays the label with the selected element showing the data derived from the requested field.

Text and barcode elements may take their data directly from a suitable field in the database. Image elements may be provided with a filename of a suitable graphics file from a database field.
